Jakub Dobes: towards a new Halak spring?

A spring like no other
It is springtime in Montreal, fifteen years after the legendary "Halak Spring." In 2010, Slovakian goaltender Jaroslav Halak delivered a historic performance, leading the underdog Montreal Canadiens to back-to-back upsets against Alexander Ovechkin’s Capitals and Sidney Crosby’s Penguins. Today, that miraculous NHL playoff run still fuels the dreams of hockey fans. While nostalgia warms the heart, a new star is currently outshining the spring sun at the Bell Centre: Jakub Dobeš.
Jakub Dobeš

A spectacular debut for Jakub Dobes
Drafted in 2020 by the Montreal Canadiens (Habs), Jakub Dobeš has rapidly emerged as a top-tier prospect and a fan favorite. Born in Ostrava, Czechia, the Tricolore goaltender honed his skills in the NCAA with Ohio State (2021-2022) before making his mark in the AHL with the Laval Rocket. By late 2024, his dominance earned him a call-up to the NHL, and he hasn't looked back since.
Dobeš’s entry into the National Hockey League was nothing short of historic. In his NHL debut, the rookie goaltender led his teammates to a stunning 4-0 shutout victory over the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers.
Breaking Records: Better than Ken Dryden?
Jakub Dobeš became only the fifth goaltender in the Montreal Canadiens' storied history to record a shutout in his professional debut. But he didn't stop there. He won his next three starts, defeating league powerhouses like the Colorado Avalanche, Washington Capitals, and Dallas Stars.
His statistics are reaching "legendary" status:
Save Percentage: .963
Goals-Against Average (GAA): 0.98
Elite Opponents Faced: Barkov, MacKinnon, Makar, and Ovechkin.
To put this historic NHL debut in perspective: the legendary Hall of Famer Ken Dryden won his first six career games but maintained a .957 save percentage and a 1.65 GAA. Dobeš is currently tracking on a path that rivals the greatest icons of Montreal hockey history.
Exclusive Sports Art: The Sévigny x Dobeš Collection
At the intersection of athletic greatness and artistic mastery, this era is being captured for eternity. Jakub Dobeš has signed an exclusive artwork by renowned painter Éric Sévigny, making it a must-have for any serious collector of authentic sports memorabilia.
This collaboration between a rising NHL star and a master of sports arts creates a unique piece of history. Whether you are looking for high-end signed sports collectibles or a distinctive tribute to the Habs' next great era, the Sévigny collection offers unmatched exclusivity.
Do you think Jakub Dobeš is the next official number-one goalkeeper for the Montreal Canadiens??
